When the brown bin isn't enough
Oxford's garden waste bin works fine for weekly trimmings, but one serious weekend in the garden defeats it. A single leylandii hedge reduced by a metre can fill six bins' worth, and the bin lorry won't take soil, turf or timber at all. That's where a collection makes sense — we take the lot in one visit, including the material the council scheme excludes.
Access is the other Oxford problem. In much of Jericho, East Oxford and Cowley the only route from a back garden is through the house or a shared alley, which rules a skip out entirely. Our crews bag and barrow green waste through the property with floor protection down, or lift it over side walls where that's quicker.

Pricing garden waste honestly
Green waste is bulky but light, so most garden clearances price at our standard volume rates — from £45 for a minimum load and around £190 for half a van. The exceptions are soil, turf and rubble, which hit the van's weight limit long before its volume limit; we quote those per quarter load and tell you the weight allowance up front. Where garden waste is clean and separate, it goes for composting rather than into general waste — one reason we ask you not to mix soil or rubble through a pile of hedge cuttings if you can avoid it.

Do I need to bag up garden waste before collection?
No — bagging is helpful but not required. We bring our own bags, gloves and tools and will fork loose piles of hedge cuttings or rake up leaves ourselves as part of the job. If waste has to come through the house, we bag it first and lay floor protection, which is standard practice in Oxford's terraced streets.
Can you take soil and turf?
Yes, we take soil, turf and small quantities of rubble, but they're priced by weight rather than volume because half a tonne of soil fits in a fraction of the van. As a guide, a quarter-load weight allowance covers roughly 20–25 rubble sacks of soil. Tell us it's soil when you ask for a quote and we'll price it correctly first time.
Will my garden waste be composted?
Clean green waste we collect — cuttings, grass, leaves, prunings — is delivered for composting rather than general disposal, keeping it in the same recycling stream as the council's brown-bin service. Mixed loads (green waste with timber, plastic pots or soil) are separated at a licensed transfer station first, which is why unmixed piles are slightly cheaper to clear.
Can you dismantle and remove an old shed?
Yes — shed removal is one of our most common Oxford garden jobs. We unbolt or cut the panels, break down the frame and take the lot, including felt roofing and any contents you don't want. A standard 6×4 or 8×6 shed is typically a half-van to three-quarter-van load; add the base slabs only if you want them gone too.
